SRN has invested in Autologic Diagnostic
Equipment to enable us to keep up-to-date with the latest technology.
Autologic for BMW offers:
• Coding of body control modules
• Programming of engine control modules
• Programming of key and car memory
• Clearing and re-setting of adaptation values
• Real-time reading of all dynamic data
• Procedure for the fitting of BMW accessories
• Reading and re-setting of fault codes
BMW, & Mini
Using diagnostic equipment from
Autologic we are able to performance tune many BMW & Mini models.
Autologic Performance Tunes are
modifications to the manufacturer’s
vehicle tune data. These modifications are downloaded to the vehicle’s
Engine Control Module (ECM) from Autologic through the OnBoard Diagnostic
• Increased power and torque
• Smoother delivery of power
• Increased fuel economy in most diesel applications
• Sharper Throttle Response
• Faster acceleration
• Reduced number of gear changes
• All upgrades are through the diagnostic connector, meaning that
the ECM does not have to be removed and opened up.
Diagnos has developed tunes for all of the control units
listed above. There are however hundreds of variations for each control
unit and vehicle. It is necessary therefore, for us to diagnose the vehicle
with Autologic and determine whether or not a performance tune exists
for the current level of ECU software
Diagnos are required to develop a Performance Tune for this variation
If a tune does not exist, we will be required to send specific data about
the control unit to diagnos. New Performance Tunes can normally be written
usually within 24 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why do the manufacturers limit the power output
of their engines?
The standard manufacturer tune is a compromise of hundreds
of factors. Principally, the manufacturer must ensure a high degree of
engine reliability across the worldwide market taking into account factors
• Fuel Quality
• Different servicing schedules
• Different operating environments, such as altitude and terrain
• Local legislation with regard to power output and emissions
• During testing, manufacturers “tweak” the tunes constantly
to achieve individual results for individual tests, thus comprising the
overall smoothness of the original tune.
Autologic Performance Tunes are optimized for European and US driving
conditions. As long as the manufacturer’s service schedule is adhered
to, there is no reason why this extra power cannot be “unlocked”.
Q. How will the emissions be affected?
All Autologic Performance Tunes are tested to ensure that they comply
with UK emissions laws.
Q. Is the tuning process reversible?
A. Yes. In the unlikely event that you require the Autologic Performance
Tune to be removed, the process can be reversed without any side effects.
Q. Are there any physical changes to vehicle?
A. Not usually. Most Autologic Performance Tunes are ECM software downloads
only. There will be no physical evidence that the engine has been uprated.
The exception to this statement is the BMW Mini Cooper S. We have
two different tunes available. The first is diagnostic only, the second
has been optimized for a smaller supercharger pulley.
Q. Are there performance figures for all Performance
A. NO. It is impractical to produce graphs for all engine
variations. There are simply thousands of variations in tunes. The power
output of an engine will depend on age, oil condition, temperature, air
pressure. The graphs that we provide are a sample of the complete range
that we cover. They should be read as a proportional comparison between
the pre-tune graph and the post-tune graph.
Q. Are there any insurance implications?
A. YES. Most insurance companies require you to notify them of any modifications
to your vehicle. This includes modifications such as stainless steel
exhausts or different alloy wheels. Some insurance companies will add
a premium to your policy, others will not.
